Hello internet! It’s been awhile! Sad to say that I don’t have any flowers, but I swear I’m extra sorry.
Anyway, a TON has happened since our last post and most of it has honestly been pretty shitty. The world is in a time or transition. Whether it’s forward or reverse remains to be seen. What more can we do now but look to our favorite movies, games, and junk assorted media stuff. Hopefully the new year will prove to be more positive than the last.
As for your good old friend, Michael J., we’ll I’m tryin to get myself back into the swing of things. The site needs some fresh blood, a jump start, and I refuse to give up on it. I have so many backed up Big Trouble in Little China comic reviews, I feel like Jack Burton surrounded by the Three Storms and I’m all out of Egg Shens (face palm).
2017 will mark a change for the website and for Shut Up Yo! Studios. We may not have it all squared away yet, but we’ll get there.
Pinky Promise!
P.S. - Has everyone seen the Alien: Covenant Trailer? What did you guys think?
By Michael J. Foy
Hey everyone! There are lots of little stories floating around the web right now and I just wanted to take a moment to give you my thoughts on some of them.
First up, it appears that Noomi Rapace will return for the Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant. Her name was missing from the cast list for quite some time and has led many to believe her character would be written out. I'm glad to see she'll return along side Michael Fassbender, helping to further build the bridge between Prometheus and the original Alien.
You can find all the details here!
Wth the release of the new Independance Day right around the corner (which IGN has given an 8.0 outta 10!), please enjoy this video of Jeff Goldblum reviewing all his own memes!
And as many of you already know, Actor Anton Yelchin was killed in an car accident in his own driveway. His Jeep, which had recently been recalled, began to roll down his steep driveway and pinned him between a wall and gate. It's always a shame to lose someone so young and so talented. He will live on in this summer's Star Trek Beyond, but will of course be greatly missed in the eventual sequel. Rest in Peace Anton.

E3 is gearing up and you know what that means, tons of video game news and footage! Although I'm currently still obsessed with the fantastic new DOOM, there is one new game on the way I'm just as excited for: Friday The 13th!
If you haven't heard of it, it's basically a game where you can play as Jason or a counsler and try and make it through the night at Camp Crystal Lake. Anything is better than the 1989 Nintendo game, and this time around they got the music right for sure. Kane Hodder was brought in to do motion capture, allowing him to finally play Jason again.
You can check out the current game play footage HERE!
And you can also check out the games website for concept art and all the latest news, HERE!
Is anyone out there as excited for this game as Mike Foy?!?! Let us know in the comments below!

Hey there internet! Just got a quick update today. Mr. D, Frank Mitchell and myself have begun recording again! After what seems like forever, we'll have a brand new episode coming to you, the people(!) very soon!
Over the last several years, Shout Factory has proven to be the go to place for amazing Blu-Ray releases. Between the brand new bonus content and the newly commissioned artwork, their releases are like no other. Now they have done it again by announcing the release of, "The Thing" Deluxe Collector's Edition, "Bill & Ted's Most Excellent Collection" (a box set featuring both films with a TON of extras, and several other great titles!
Check out there Entire Collection Here!
In the world of video games, the first trailer for Injustice 2 has risen and I gotta say I'm pretty pumped for it. The first game was basically superheros meets Mortal Kombat and it was a lot of fun. There are new character designs and game design that looks very interesting!
Just for the fun of it, I've included an old video that used to make me laugh my ass off, "Mr. Bean goes to see A Nightmare on Elm Street". I just watched it for the first time in years and it still makes me laugh!
Enjoy this classic skit from Mr. Bean!
So what's on your mind internet? What films or games are you looking forward to most this summer? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @SHUTUPYOSTUDIOS

In case you haven't heard, there is a brand new DOOM out now! What are you waiting for?! It's fantastic and crazy and more importantly it's the story of one man VS Hell!
What could make this game better? Nothing you say?! Then you would be wrong! Thanks to the wonders of the internet, you can watch and listen to "Christopher Walken" play through DOOM!
It's dumb. it's funny. And there are simply no more words.
AND remember to always, Stay Tuned!

As promised I've got a brand new review for you! Is Stephen King's 1983 novel about something more terrifying than zombies any good? Or should you just pop in your old VHS of the film adaptation and turn out the lights?
"Hailed as “The most frightening book Stephen King has ever written,” Pet Sematary remains to this day the one novel that still scares the author himself. It’s also the book King never wanted to publish. In 1989 it was adapted into a feature film that stuck very close to the story arch but lacked the intensity of the source material. I grew up watching the original movie and it’s subpar sequel from 1992, but always wanted to read the book for myself to get the full experience."
Did you like the book better than the movie? Did you never read the book but hate the film? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Hey internet..... so it's been awhile and for that I'm sorry. I missed you! Do you remember me? Probably not, but that's ok, we'll have a second first date and it's gonna be great!
SO. For the last year and half I have been learning and perfroming Improv. I started taking classes at a great acting school (NJ School of Dramatic Arts!) and it has been the best decision of my adult life. Franco "Danger" Roman and I started together and have now been part of a troop for almost a year! Needless to say, it has taken a lot of our time.
On top of that, we have both started performing Stand Up (Franco finally got me to get on stage and it's been crazy. Plus he's been doing it longer and he's super good, even if he won't admit it!)
So what does all this mean? Between fun comedy stuff, life has gotten in the way as well. Work, my annual trip to the INTEL ISEF, the death of my Grandmother (Love and miss you, Rest in Peace funny lady!) and a romantic relationship, time has just escaped me. BUT now that things are calming down a bit, I want to get back working on this crazy site that I have missed TREMENDOUSLY!
With all that said, I have a new review that will be up Tomorrow (Thursday!) for the Stephen King novel, Pet Sematary.
AND make sure to TUNE IN to SHUT UP YO RADIO on May 29th for Mike Foy's (That's a me!) 30th Birthday Show! (More details soon!)
Hope you are well internet. Let's get some coffee and catch up!
In the meantime, please enjoy the following awesome Video!

Happy October Everyone! We hope you're having a great Friday! This week we have a couple little goodies for ya.
First up, we have Jade Ashely with a review of 'Zodiac Starforce'
"This week, I’m reviewing Dark Horse’s new magical girl team comic, Zodiac Starforce, written by Kevin Panetta and drawn by Paulina Ganucheau. Zodiac Starforce is about a group of teenage girls in high school dealing with boyfriends, biology tests, mean girls, and the occasional monster or two. These girls have been gifted with magical powers that they use to fight off evil entities that threaten their world. The cool part of this comic is that it’s not an origin story."
And we have Eric Coomber with two wonderfully different pieces. Let us start first with his article...
"It’s been a long while since I’ve written for the site, but I’m here with a little bit of good news. Next week, I’ll have a more thorough review of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty from the MGS HD Edition. For now, though, I’ll give you guys a quick rundown: I liked it, but didn’t fully love it. It felt like an update to the first game in some aspects, while it had drawbacks in other areas. The visuals were extremely well done for a game that came out in 2001, considering the HD edition is not a full high definition remake. The score is more or less just background noise. I don’t think any of it, save for one or two songs, were too memorable. The plot was… Well, okay, that’s the part that I need to discuss in a bigger review. Without trying to spoil anything, up until the last two hours or so, it was good-ol’ tactical espionage action. This is all I’m going to say for now, but definitely check in next week for my big rant of a review!"
We also have our first piece of 'Eric's Bad Art' for you below! Enjoy!
That's it for this week gang! BUT(!), be sure to leave your thoughts and comments below!

"The twins are ready to take on the United States Police force. With an army behind them, and nuclear weapons up their sleeves, they finally make their push to take over America, but the illusion of their “powers” has finally slipped away. As a massive battle erupts for control of Florida, the twins plans backfire and Plissken uses his skills against them."

Good Day to all our intrepid readers out there! It's the Shut Up Yo Weekly Update! What have we been up to this week? FIND OUT NOW!
We are awash in comics these last two weeks! We have Jade Ashley here again with another comic review!
"This week I’ve got another Image comics title for you! Rat Queens by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Roc Upchurch is incredibly unique and totally rad. Betty, Hannah, Dee, and Violet make up the badass merc-for-hire group known as the Rat Queens. They, along with other merc-for-hire groups, get sent out on missions to protect their town and it’s surrounding areas from goblins, trolls, monsters, and whatever threatening entity that’s lurking around. Known to cause a little havoc themselves, the villagers haven’t taken too fondly to the Rat Queens. Trouble arises when all the mercenary groups get sent out on
rigged missions, not met by who they thought they were going to be fighting, but by a group that tries to kill them all off. The Rat Queens are having none of that and take matters into their own hands to try and figure out just who exactly is attempting to get rid of them.
What I love the most about Rat Queens is that it’s about a group of diverse women. Diverse in race, body type, and sexuality which is something that’s hard to come by in the world of comics. I loved the characterization of each of the girls. They all have such different personalities, but they mesh together so well. Not to mention, they’re absolutely hilarious and unapologetic in their crudeness. This book is a real treat. Rat Queens is really something spectacular. Hailed as IGN’s “Best New Series” of 2013, it certainly lives up to the title. Gorgeous, fantastic art, stellar writing and an awesome plot to boot, this is not one that you wanna miss. Rat Queens Volume 1 and 2 are available now!"
Thanks Jade!
Frank Mitchell has seen Sinister II, and has a question!
"Why would you show a well-lit villain and expect us to be afraid of him?"

"Suzie and Jon have a bit of a secret... Let me start from the beginning. Suzie works at the library. Sad thing is, the bank is shutting it down. Jon happens to work at the bank and he happens to absolutely hate it. Jon, meet, Suzie. They hit it off immediately... for more reasons than one. Turns out, they share the same secret. Whenever either of them have sex, they freeze time and go to a place Suzie likes to call “The Quiet.” So what do they do with all that frozen time?"

Hey Hey Hey everyone! It's been another wild week here at SUYS and we thought we'd give you a quick update on what we've been up to!
First up, Newcomer Jade gives her thoughts on the comic Groot #1
"Groot and Rocket Raccoon are hitchhiking through the galaxy in Groot #1 written by Jeff Loveness and Brian Kesinger. After their ship blows up, Groot and Rocket are stranded in space. Much to Rocket’s dislike, all Groot is trying to do is get back to Earth. Rocket, always loyal to his friends, figures that might be better than being stranded. So, they do what anyone would do...start hitchhiking. But wherever they go, trouble seems to follow close behind."

Mackenzie Portfolio is back with some issues facing gamers who can't seem to open up their minds a bit.
"On June 26, 2015 the United States made the historic decision to legalize same-sex marriage and social media exploded with fabulous rainbows. Friends, family, complete strangers, corporations (including IGN) changed their profile picture to include a rainbow filter to show their support. I’m not gay but even I was overwhelmed with the excitement at the support our nation seemed to be showing. That is, until I started reading the comments under the IGN profile picture."

And Frank Mitchell has dried his eyes long enough to tell you guys his thoughts of Inside Out from Pixar!
"Let me save you the suspense: Yes, Inside Out will probably make you shed a few tears as long as you aren't cold and dead inside. This seems to be a return to form for Pixar, a company who looked like they were veering dangerously into the realm of "Bad Sequel Land" with no plan for escape. What struck me about this film was how it manages to create a platform for children to refer to when they start maturing and having more complex reactions to the events in their lives. A child now has a film to point to when they can't quite explain how they feel. Most importantly, it conveys the point that all your emotions are important. ALL of them, including sadness, anger, fear and disgust. Grab some tissues and have a look!"
We also have our latest reviews up by Teddy Spaghetti Lawrence and Michael J. Foy! Have a read and see what the hell they're reading or listening to this week!
That's all from us here at SUYS! Here's the teaser Trailer for the upcoming movie The Gallows (July 10th, That's TODAY!) and go check it out if it tickles your fancy!
Until next week, loyal readers!

Grab your fortune cookies! It's time for another trip to China Town!
"The stage has been set for a great battle in Little China! Big Trouble number eight is here and I’m excited to get to the action! Wang and Jack, now backed by an unlikely group, are heading back to the den of the evil Lo Pan in hopes of banishing him once again, to the hell of those killed by idiots. Who will prevail this time around? Does Jack have enough dumb luck left to get them through the fight?!"

"HHEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY EVERYBODYYY! It’s your favorite undead rocker extraordinaire, Teddy “Spaghetti” Lawrence! Lead singer/song writer for “The Deadites”, I’m sure you’ve heard out hit single, “Burnin’ Love”.....
Anyway, my favorite band of all time, besides my own of course, is the legendary “Dokken”. I figured since I got nothing better to do in the afterlife, I would write up some reviews of their albums! Fronted by Don Dokken, with Guitarist George Lynch, hard hitting drummer Mick Brown and bassist Jeff Pilson, Dokken was known for great live shows and monster ballads."
Check back in soon for my next review!

Hey gang! It's summer, and you know what that means! BUSY BUSY BUSY! Our writers are taking a little break to vacation, buy a home, climb a mountain, rob a train, really whatever makes them happy. So! This week, we have one fantastic news story for you from me(!), Michael J. Foy!
"The new trailer for ‘Wet Hot American Summer: The First Day of Camp’ is here and I can’t stop laughing! Ever since I heard that Netflix was working with original creator David Wain to bring back the cult film in the form of an eight episode series, I’ve been goin crazy! If you haven’t seen the original film from 2001, you’ve gotta get on it! This totally absurd comedy is one of those movies that just gets funnier and funnier upon each viewing. The characters are mostly “teenagers” played by 20/30/40 somethings in the film, on the last day of camp in the summer of 1981. The new show takes place before for the events of the film, despite the actors now being in their 30/40/50’s, on the first day of camp.
Featuring the ENTIRE Original Cast of Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Michael Showalter, Marguerite Moreau, Ken Marino, Michael Ian Black, H. Jon Benjamin, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Marisa Ryan, Kevin Sussman, Joe Lo Truglio, Elizabeth Banks, Judah Friedlander and a ton of great new people!
Check out the trailer for the new show on Netflix, with all eight episodes premiering on July 31st!"

Summer is upon us!
Hello World(!) and welcome to another SUYS Weekly Update!
First up is Mike 'TUNA' Foy with an article about music, childhood & that endless feeling of Summer...
"With summer upon us, I wanted to take a trip back to those long, hot days when the music I would listen to became burned into my brain. Whether it was hiking in the woods or riding my bike, I found myself listening to this one album on repeat, perfectly capturing the mood and time in my life. Now that I’m older, I find myself still reaching for this one, year after year, with that feeling only more cemented."
Next Up we have Jade Ashley with her review of the 'Black Canary' Comic Book!
"Black Canary is back and this time she’s left super heroics behind for a new world of rock and roll. Now known as D.D and the lead singer of the band Black Canary, (Kind of dangerous, with that voice, don’t ya think?) trouble follows her everywhere. Dinah just wants to escape her past, but it keeps catching up with her. To the dismay of her bandmates, their shows usually end with a literal bang. As in, Dinah banging someone's head in at the end of practically every performance. So much so that they have been dubbed “The Most Dangerous Band In America.” So who is coming after D.D, and why?
Or maybe it’s not her they’re after..."
And finally we have Mr. Frank Mitchell with some new thoughts on an old favorite!
"I saw a tremendous slasher film this weekend. I re-watched James Cameron's The Terminator. I never put two and two together and realized that this movie came out right in the throes of Freddy, Jason, Meyers and slasher kings, galore. This movie allows the terminator to be the unstoppable killer, and makes us fear the hell out of him. I know it may seem crazy, but check it out again and tell me it doesn't resemble a slasher flick. I dare you! Re-watch it, fall in love with the perfectly synthed-up score, and get excited for Terminator: Genysis!"
That's it for this week gang! Don't forget to leave your thoughts in the comments below, and we'll see you guys next Friday with more news!

Hey Hey Hey! Welcome to The Shut Up Yo Studios Weekly update! It’s been a crazy week here (Frank got a haircut, as you can see in the photo!) at the studio and we have some updates for you!
First up, Mackenzie Portfolio is back to discuss the Holy S#!t awesomeness of E3 this year!
“It’s a yearly tradition of mine to stream the live E3 press conferences, and inevitably get up from my seat, start pacing back and forth, my eyes wild with excitement as they’re glued to the screen, hands waving in the air, and shouting something to the effect of “Holy f*cking shit!” This year was no different. Between Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo there were some memorable moments to be had all around. While I can’t possibly cover it all in one weekly update I do want to share my favorite “Holy f*cking shit!” moments.”
Click here to read the rest of the article!
We have a new writer to add to the mix! Please welcome Jade Ashley and her review for issue #1 of Ms. Marvel!
“I recently got my hands on a copy of Volume 1 of "Ms. Marvel: No Normal" written by G. Willow Wilson and drawn by Adrian Alphona. And I gotta say, it sure lives up to the hype. Ms. Marvel is the first Marvel comic to feature a Muslim super-heroine. Since her comic first debuted in 2014, she's easily become one of Marvel's most popular superheroes. Kamala Khan is just a regular 16-year-old Pakistani girl. She's a junior in high school and she's obsessed with the Avengers and writes fan fiction in her spare time. She lives with her strict but loving parents and her very religious brother in Jersey City. One night, after getting enveloped in a fog that blasts the whole city, she has a vision of her idol, Carol Danvers (the previous Ms. Marvel, now known as Captain Marvel). She wakes and discovers that she has the ability to shape-shift, shrink and enlarge her body. She takes up the mantle of Ms. Marvel and sets her sights on protecting Jersey City from a new villain called "The Inventor."
Right off the bat, the writing and her characterization reminds me of Peter Parker's. She's young, geeky, just finding out she has powers and is struggling to juggle them with all of her other responsibilities. She's also got that sarcastic and witty humor that we know and love Peter Parker for. So if you're a fan of Spidey, check this out! The book, all in all, was a joy to read. It's colorful, diverse, refreshing and new. It's awesome seeing a female fronted comic about a person of color being so popular in the Marvel universe. I absolutely love how Kamala's faith and culture are highlighted in the story. Her family and home life are a big part of who she is. She's balancing between her religious duties and struggling with disobeying her parents so she can be the hero she wants to be. The story itself is just so genuine. Between the gorgeous art and the hilarious and insightful writing, I gotta give this one five stars. Go ahead and pick this up, I guarantee you'll love it.”
We also have our very own Michael J Foy who has written a review for Jurassic World and issue #2 of Escape from New York! But first! He has a few words about the Ghostbusters remake!
"Alright folks, the Ghostbusters reboot from director Paul Feig begins filming within the week! Shooting will take place in Boston with the city of choice for the film still being Manhattan. After all we’ve heard leading up to this, it’s still hard to think it’s actually happening. I’m still not sure how I feel about it, and mostly I just don’t care. I recently got the first two in a box set on blu-ray for next to nothing. (Seriously, remember paying $15/20 for a VHS?!) I’m pretty content with those two and besides the obvious cash crab, there doesn’t seem to be a big need to remake the original. I am however, excited to see the film have a female cast. It’s something different, and the women selected, are very funny. It will certainly be interesting to get a look at them in the new uniforms with updated proton packs. Let’s just hope it doesn’t suck."
Be sure to tweet him and wish him luck tonight while he performs improv on stage! @foymanchew
That’s all for now! We’ll see you next week! Keep laughin!

By Michael J. Foy
Starting this week, we here at SUY Studios thought it might be fun to get on the Throwback Thursday kick. So to start things off, we're headin back about two years to revisit Mike DiGioia's Review of the film 'CHARLEY VARRICK' from 1973.
"I can rattle off a myriad of lost crime and action gems from the late sixties to the early eighties. Interestingly enough, though, most action films within that decade and a half weren’t necessarily full-on action films, but more so crime films grounded in a much more plausible reality, with the addition of brilliant, effective action beats implemented within the story. Films like Point Blank, Bullitt, Dirty Harry, The Seven-Ups, The French Connection I and II, The Outfit, and Thief come to mind, and that’s only a few. It wasn’t until the approach of the mid eighties when we started to see some of the more extravagant, over-blown, Stallone/Schwarzenegger/Lundgren/Norris/Van Damme high-end cinematic carnage, not to mention the even more excessive, yet wonderfully choreographed bullet-ridden mayhem John Woo introduced to us, and even he’s a director who’s been heavily influenced by the nuances of much grittier, intricate plot structures that directors like Jean-Pierre Melville created in his films, like Le Samourai from 1967 and Le Cercle Rouge from 1970, to name a couple."

I saw 'Jurassic World' on Satruday and boy do I have things to say!
"Fourteen years after the awful ‘Jurassic Park III’, ‘Jurassic World’ is finally here. This is not a movie I’ve been looking forward to in particular, but it has been bouncing around in the back of my head for awhile. The trailer promises dino action up the wazoo, and a much more interesting plot this time around. So how does it hold up you may ask? Let’s head back to Isla Nublar and find out!"

Everyone sing it with me! 'It's the Shut Up Yo! Weekly Update! Ya da dat dat, Ya dat dat dat! It's The Shut Up Yo Weekly Update!' No? Not diggin the song? That's ok, cause we got a bunch of news for you! The people!
First up is Eric Coomber with an update on the New 'Legend of Zelda' for Nintendo's 'Wii U'
"At first I was going to write about Jurassic World (I’m excited for it). Then I was going to write about Jurassic Park III (I somehow enjoy it). The other night, it changed to the mobile game Ridiculous Fishing (you should buy it). Instead, I’m going to talk about the upcoming Legend of Zelda game, which is currently only known as The Legend of Zelda for Wii U, or just Zelda U. What we know about it is that it’s going to be a bit more open world styled than the previous games, in that this time you probably won’t necessarily need to go from one specific dungeon to another in order to advance. The teaser trailer shown at last year’s E3 (made using in-engine footage) shows that the game will be bright and cell-shaded for its art-style: somewhat of a combination between the Wind Waker and Skyward Sword. Lastly and unfortunately, we know that the game has been delayed; however, the Eiji Aonuma has stated that this is due to the development team discovering new things while testing the game and then taking the time to actually implement the features to make a more complete game. To be honest, I’m perfectly fine with them taking more time to add some good ol’ Nintendo Polish to it, so long as that’s actually why the project is being delayed. Still, my fingers are crossed that we’ll get a better preview in the coming weeks at E3 2015, even though Nintendo has said it will not be. Sometimes rumors are a good thing, so here’s hoping it’s true!"
With any luck you'll be able to pick up your copy of 'Zelda U' in 2016!
We also have Michael J. 'TUNA' Foy with the movie news roudup!
“Hey everyone! There has been a ton of movie news lately and I want to a moment to talk about a few of them. (I’ll have a review of ‘Jurassic World’ after I see it tomorrow!) First up there’s Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson saying he wants to star in a remake of ‘Big Trouble in Little China’, with John Carpenter involved to some capacity. Although there is no script yet, I’m still worried about this one. Not sure if the film can be remade period, let alone with The Rock at it’s center. I don’t hate him as an actor, but he’s got some insanely huge shoes to fill. More to come on this as it develops. In the mean time, get your ‘Big Trouble’ fix with BOOM-Studios sequel comic, co-produced by John Carpenter himself!

Next up there’s the new Lifetime Original Movie, ‘Deadly Adoption’. For the network’s 25th anniversary, they produced a spoof of one of their own films! Starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig as a couple taking care of young women, they plan to adopt her unborn child when something goes horribly wrong. Not sure what to make of it yet, but this could be pretty damn funny. The movie will premiere on Lifetime June 20th!
Watch the Teaser Trailer HERE!
And finally we have Bill Murray’s new film ‘Rock the Kasbah’. Murray plays a down on his luck manager on the road, with one of his acts overseas. Stranded in Afghanistan without a passport, he discovers an amazing young talent in search of a way to perform. From the trailer it looks like it may be quite funny and certainly touching. I’ll certainly check it out when it’s released later this fall. Check out the trailer HERE!"

Or will he finally get what’s coming to him? The stress and humor of this issue have me cracking at the seams! So let’s get into it, and find out what Jack and Wang will do next!"

I recently got my hands on the New 'Escape from New York' comic and holy crow am I excited to talk about it!
"Snake Plissken is back! From BOOM Studios, the people that brought us the great ‘Big Trouble in Little China’ series, comes another Carpenter inspired comic. Just like the former, this new comic acts as a direct sequel to the original 1981 film of the same name. While Big Trouble is notable for it’s action/comedy, Escape is notable for its action/drama. I went into this first issue with some high expectations, no matter how much I tried to quell them, and the results? Let’s head back to New York Maximum Security Penitentiary and find out!"

"It's, ah, the, uh, Shut Up Yo Studios We-Weekly update!" said Jeff Goldblum.
Hello and welcome to the Shut Up Yo Studios Weekly Update! We hope you guys all had a great week! Here's a little peek at what we've been up to!
SUY Podcast co-host Eric Coomber has a new-found love for writing as a visual art:
"Back in May, the 12th specifically, Mark Z. Danielewski released the first volume in his latest project, The Familiar: One Rainy Day in May. It’s the first novel in a series of 28, but it’s not just 800 pages of white black ink. There are pictures. The words tilt and shift across the page, and each chapter told from a different character has a different format and style. The first chapter involves a young girl having a panic attack over the thought of trying to find the answer to how many raindrops there are. The words of the question become the very raindrops that haunt her, as her thoughts are scattered on the page. Now, his other novels are artistically adventurous like this, but never to this degree, and I’m very excited to see where it all goes. What I would love, though, is for more authors to combine visual art with their literature. Pantheon Books has been willing to work with Danielewski in the past and the fact that they’ve accepted to take on this challenge of 27 more books shows me that it isn’t an impossible or worthless task to print books that are a little more than books. Little abstract symbols and shapes on a screen or page can bring worlds to life in our minds, and the affect is magnified when the words themselves are just as alive as the worlds they transmit to us as they are in this novel. Sorry if it seems
like I’m gushing on this because I am, but I really just want more authors to be crazy in the best way possible to make things like this."
SUY Article contributor Mackenzie Portfolio just saw Daredevil on Netflix!
"If you haven’t watched Marvel’s new Netflix series, Daredevil, then I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. Pick up the phone, call out of work, and binge watch this series immediately. You’ll thank me later.
The 13-episode season is one of the greatest superhero shows I have ever seen. Each episode is action packed, clever, deep, beautifully shot, the list goes on... But what really sets this show apart from the rest in its genre is Wilson Fisk, or as you may better know him as, Kingpin. Without giving away spoilers, Fisk (played by Vincent D'Onofrio) is the first villain that I not only have ever cared about, but maybe care about even more so than the hero. Often when introduced to a villain we’re told as much, and automatically we’ve made up our minds to root against them. But this time it’s different. This time D’Onofrio brings to life a side of Kingpin we’ve never seen before. What makes him so compelling is, like Daredevil, he genuinely wants to make Hell’s Kitchen a better place. He is so convincing in fact that throughout the season you may even find yourself believing in Kingpin’s masterful plans. You may wonder what makes him so different than Daredevil; they are both using unorthodox methods for the same goal. But don’t be mistaken; while Kingpin can be gentle and even vulnerable, he’s still scary as shit! The season pays equal attention to Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Foggy, and even Karen, but it’s the scenes with Wilson Fisk I looked forward to most. The energy, charisma, and gravitas D’Onofrio has brought to this character, alone, is worth watching the series.
So what are you waiting for?! Tell your boss you’re not going to make it in, Fisk is waiting, and you really don’t want to keep him waiting."
And SUY Co-Host Franco Danger lost his mind hearing about the new Fallout announcement this past week!
"BREAK OUT THE RAD-SUIT AND OPEN UP A BOTTLE OF NUKA-COLA CAUSE FALLOUT 4 IS ON ITS WAY, YOU FERAL GHOULS!!! It's been 5 years since the release of the lively Fallout New Vegas and today Fallout's Facebook page just released the trailer for Fallout 4. Yes it's been 5 years and I know what you're thinking "but Franco! I'm STILL not done with New Vegas!" It's okay, I know, there's a lot of gameplay. Take your time wandering that ever-lasting wasteland cause they still haven't announced a release date. This 3 minute trailer doesn't disappoint! There's a lot of the good old wasteland we love but what looks like a lot of more of a dynamic setting/story line. It does drop a heavy, steamy load of a hint that our character mighttt not be alone in his/her travels. (still unclear if it requires you to make your own character) I'm excited to see what changes they might bring to the table during combat. Also I can't waitttt to see what cool skills and perks they have. (My favorite was the Mysterious Stranger perk.) Check it out yourselves here http://fallout.bethsoft.com
Keep fighting the good fight!"

"Big Trouble number six is here and I couldn’t be more pumped! This issue did not disappoint and kept me chuckling the whole way through. Hey internet, hope you're havin a great Friday! If not, then the SUYS weekly post is here for your entertainment! First up, we've got Mackenzie Portfolio's thoughts on 'Independence Day 2':
"Get the cigars ready because the fat lady hasn’t finished singing! This week film director Dean Devlin posted a photo of him with another familiar face on the set of Independence Day 2. With the overwhelming number of reboots and trilogy series churning out of Hollywood lately this is one sequel we are genuinely stoked about! And what better way to express our excitement than a Top 10 list counting down the reasons we need this sequel..."
Next up we have Joey TwoTones Review of 'Kung Fury!'
"In Early 2014, Kung Fury was brought to us on Kickstarter. It’s goal was simple. Raise $200,000, and create a short, action-packed, 80’s cop movie. The people spoke, and the movie raised over $600,000. Now, this did tragically fall short of their goal of a cool million to make a full feature-length film, but alas… Kung Fury was recently released. Find it on Youtube. Find it on Steam. Find it wherever you can, because this short film was INCREDIBLY Entertaining."

"Big Trouble in Little China number five is here and boy is it crazy good! Where the first four issues build into what could almost be seen as a conclusion on the verge of completion (I was tricked!), issue five switches gears to push the story in a new direction. There turned out to be a ton of really fun surprises along the way and the inclusion of an interesting new element to the story. So what are we waiting for? Let’s drive right in!"

It’s Friday and you know what that means! Well yes, it does mean no work tomorrow, BUT it also means the Shut Up Yo Studios Weekly Post is here! First up, we have Mackenzie Portfolio’s thoughts on the ‘BATKID BEGINS’ trailer.
“Why so serious? The new Batkid Begins trailer dropped this week and it’s guaranteed to be the feel good movie of the summer. If the trailer doesn’t at least cause you to get misty-eyed then it’s safe to assume you have no soul. The documentary tells the story of Miles Scott, the 5-year-old pint sized superhero who made headlines in 2013 when social media rallied to make his wish come true; to be the sidekick to Batman for just one day. As a result, Miles who is a cancer survivor, lived the most epic day in nerd history. With the help of the Make-A-Wish foundation, and 1.84 billion people Twitter and Instagram who shared his wish, Miles fought side by side with Batman and took on the likes of Penguin and The Riddler, saving the day, and winning a place in our hearts. Not only is this little caped crusader an inspiration, but the sheer number of people who united to make his dream come true is completely mind-blowing. The fact that thousands of individuals banded together to transform San Francisco into Gotham City and create this special day for someone they don’t even know is momentous. In a time when there are real threats within and against our society it’s reassuring to see we can come together. And the fact that it’s related to superheroes is just the cherry on top. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think of Batkid Begins!”

Next up, Frank Mitchell just saw the trailer for the new film ‘Cooties’. Did he like it? Did he hate it?! Let’s read on and find out!
“I just took a bullet for all you readers out there. The description for Cooties, the new genre-bender horror/comedy from Leigh Wannell (co-creator of Saw & Insidious) and Ian Brennan (co-creator of Glee) sounds about as fun as it gets: ‘When a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into killer zombies, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage’. With Elijah Wood (The Good Son), Rainn Wilson (Super) and Allison Pill (The Newsroom)?! SIGN ME UP!...Then I watched the trailer. While it looks to be what I expected, this movie has fallen victim to what so many other films have contended with: a trailer that looks like it gives away the entire plot. While I do still plan to watch this movie when it’s released on VOD on September 18th, I won’t be able to shake off the feeling that I already saw this movie within 2 minutes and 14 seconds of preview that they gave me. What ever happened to enticing the viewer to come to the theater? What ever happened to a little mystery? What ever happened to predic-da-bility? The newsman? The paperboy? Evening TV? I’m getting off track, here. The point is: I’m not looking forward to the Full House revival, ‘Fuller House’.”

And finally Michael J. Foy (that’s me!) is back from the International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and oh boy does he have stories!
"Greetings! I’ve returned from Pittsburgh! After nine great but completely exhausting days volunteering for the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), it’s nice to be home. This year marked my seventh fair. I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone!
This year, an estimated $4 million (US) was awarded to the record 1,700 participating high school students. The fair is funded by both Intel and the Intel Foundation with additional awards and support from dozens of other corporate, academic, governmental and science-focused organizations.
This years three big winners included Nicole Ticea and Raymond Wang of Vancouver, Canada and Karan Jerath of Friendswood, Texas! So what do the winners of the INTEL ISEF actually do to earn the top spot?"

Good day and Happy Friday to you folks out there! We here at Shut Up Yo Studios have been cranking away at some new material that we are going to be releasing very very soon! In the meantime, Eric Coomber got a look at The Babadook, and he’s terrified:
“If it’s in a word, or it’s in a look, you can’t get rid of the Babadook.” Thankfully, it was not a word or a look; it was an entire film. I’m safe because of that, right? Right? It’s not that I’m scared of that thing anyway. I am, however, glad I don’t live in a house similar that the characters Amelia and her son Sam live in, because the way it’s designed basically makes everything look like it could be the monster, when in reality, it was probably just nothing. You see, I’m fairly inexperienced when it comes to horror films, but not one of the other ones that I’ve seen have made my toes curl up like the few times I was scared of an out of focus lamp. The fact that a lamp was spooky to me is a decent sign that for a moderately budgeted ($2,000,000) first film from director Jennifer Kent, this movie is well done. And I haven’t even said anything about the sound design or the acting or even the general plot, but in short they’re pretty good, too. I highly recommend you watch it even if you’re not a fan of being scared; it’s worth it. As for me, I think I’m going to give it a second watch to try to pick up on more things. Expect a more full review in the coming weeks!”
Mike Foy had a few things to say about music and the death of Blues Legend B.B. King.
"Over thirty years ago, Elwood Blues declared that the music known as the blues would only be found in your local library, tucked away and forgotten. It’s a declaration that thankfully has only partly come true. The business of music has tried for decades to squeeze the life out of my artists, and created pre recorded, so called “musicians”. Despite their best efforts to clone something that works simply for profit, the undercurrent of genuine talent and ambition has always found a way to push back through to the surface. Nirvana helped to break the mold in the early nineties, Jack White, with every band he’s had, in the 2000’s, The Blues Brothers in the late seventies, Johnny Cash before them, and so on."
You can read the entire article HERE!
Mackenzie Portfolio got a look at the latest Jem & The Holograms reboot trailer and she’s on the fence, with some excitement!
“Wednesday was a brand new day where CBS dropped a six-minute Supergirl trailer. Personally the timing couldn’t be better after having binged on the Daredevil series on Netflix this past weekend (not to be confused with the Ben Afleck version); so I’m on a superhero kick right now. I eagerly loaded the video, made it full screen, cranked up the volume, and pressed play. Suddenly a loud BOOM “My name is...Kara Zor-El.” Immediately my heart started racing with excitement. Kara’s origin was flashing before my eyes, a promise from her mother that she will do extraordinary things on Earth, glimpses from her childhood memories and then cut to black.”

Hello internet and Happy Friday! The good people at Shut Up Yo Studios have returned with a few quick articles about what’s on their minds!
First up we have our good friend and Shut Up Yo Studios contributor Mackenzie Portfolio with her thoughts on the upcoming Suicide Squad.
“The Internet has been buzzing these past few weeks about the upcoming DC film Suicide Squad. Written and directed by David Ayer (Fury, U-571, Training Day) Suicide Squad isn’t your typical superhero flick. This time it’s the supervillains who take the lead, performing high-risk government missions in exchange for decreased prison sentences. You scratch my back I’ll scratch yours type of deal… except don’t scratch too hard or you’re back in the slammer. It features an exciting array of characters, most notably Joker (Jared Leto) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). Recently photos have been both released and leaked from set that are only titillating our pallet. But much like that Tinder date where you shaved, bought her flowers, and dinner, girlfriend doesn’t return the favor…The movie doesn’t even come out until NEXT year and already they’re releasing photos?! C’mon… I will admit though when I first heard about the movie I was totally “meh” about it. But after seeing the photos it’s peaked my interest. Jared Leto’s version of the Joker isn’t what you might expect but in all fairness he has big shoes to fill coming after Heath Ledger’s performance (pour one out for my homie). And despite it being over a year away it’s got us finally talking about the film! Check the photos out for yourself and post your thoughts in the comments below. Will you be swiping right on Suicide Squad?”

AND we also have a report from Shut Up Yo Studios Co-Founder Michael J. Foy who is currently out on assignment in Pittsburgh!
“Greetings from Pittsburgh! Perhaps you’re wondering why I’m here, or perhaps you have no idea where I live and this seems super random. Well, I’m here for the International Science and Engineering Fair! This is my seventh year volunteering with the great people from Society for Science and the Public (based out of Washington D.C.) and the many other wonderful organizations that help make this whole thing happen. The fair takes place in a different city each year in the U.S. with high school kids from all around the world who have already won school, county and state fairs. This year a record 1,700 kids will be participating to win up to $75,000! With a total of twenty categories, there are always interesting projects to check out. One year for example, a student rewired Nintendo’s old Power Glove to control a robot he created! (Best use of the Power Glove ever!) It’s a really amazing fair that helps to remind us all that there are kids out there looking to better the world around us, not just play XBox all day. Just about the only thing that could make this any better would be if Bill Nye the Science Guy would show up. (Conan O’Brien did a segment for his show at my first fair in 2009!) Bill, may I call you Bill? You should come on out and support the young scientific minds of the future at the Intel ISEF! Also, bring your good friend Neil Tyson, cause I totally want to meet you both…. and I’m sure the kids would love it too...”

By Shut Up Yo!
Hello out there to all you avid visitors! We here at Shut Up Yo Studios thought it would be fun to bring you a weekly update about the things we see, the things we do and the things we are interested in!
For starters, Shut Up Yo podcast regular Eric Coomber is STILL into Skyrim, but the reason may surprise you:
“This article might be late, or it might be right on time. You see, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim came out on November 11, 2011, but here I am, still playing it more than three years later. The province itself is supposed to be a little more than 105 square miles, scaled down to about 14.8 square miles for the sake of the game not being ridiculously large. It isn’t even the size that makes me keep playing it, but that definitely helps. It’s that the world crammed in those 14.8 square miles that feels like it’s actually alive. NPCs will actually walk across the province if they say they’re making their way somewhere, dragons will pick fights with just about anything at any time, your reputation changes based on subtle actions like helping or not helping certain people. Assuming Bethesda Softworks keeps up what they’re doing by continuing to improve each iteration of both their open-world series, The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, then the sixth game can only be more mind melting than this one was and still is. I’m sure I’ll still be slaying dragons and pillaging ancient tombs long after its release, though. Now, while it isn’t without its flaws and shortcomings, it’s still one of the largest games in one of the most fleshed-out, lore filled universes I’ve devoted my time to, and I truly do not see myself swearing it off anytime soon.”
Shut Up Yo Studios co-founder Michael J. Foy was pleased over the decision to give chimpanzees legal person’s rights and ponders the philosophical implications of imprisoning animals for experimentation:
“A Manhattan Supreme Court Justice has granted ‘Legal Persons’ status to two Chimpanzees who were being used for medical experiments at Stony Brook University on Long Island. Now, for this writer, the thought of Chimpanzees being used as test subjects for any number of experiments makes me sick. Animals of many species have demonstrated intelligence and displayed a wide array of emotions. Although I can’t say I entirely agree with calling Chimpanzees ‘Legal Persons’, nor do I think that is really what the Judge was saying in this case, I do agree that they deserve basic rights of some kind. I can understand the argument that drugs need to be tested, but in the 21st century, it would just seem that we could find a better way. One that allows other living things to do just that, not to be sold off to zoos or universities. Animals aren’t meant to live in cages. Why not just watch Planet Earth instead? (No really, it’s amazing, watch it!) Why must we “own” them? Chimpanzees are highly intelligent mammals that live in diverse family systems. They are emotionally complex, self-aware individuals that deserve a life of freedom, not one of captivity and experimentation."

Shut Up Yo Studios co-founder Frank Mitchell recently saw the film Coherence, and is still trying to wrap his brain around it:
“Unlike the comet which spurs the events in this film, Coherence managed to fly virtually under the radar when it was released in 2013. I won’t tell you who’s in it, and I won’t tell you what the official plot synopsis is, but I will ask you a simple question: How well do you know your friends? Taking place over the course of a dinner party with eight good friends, Coherence is a film that manages to bend your mind without confusing you, so long as you stick around for the whole ride and pay close attention. And once it’s over, watch it again, because there’s no better feeling than watching a movie that rewards repeat viewings. Things instantly become clearer, while simultaneously introducing deeper questions. If nothing else, watch it just to disagree with me. If you’re really you, that is…”
Shut Up Yo Studios contributor Mackenzie Portfolio’s exploration of Gamergate is yielding some interesting information on donation strategies:
“The last article I released discussed Gamergate and the struggles women are facing within the gaming community, but don’t worry the fun hasn’t stopped yet! One woman is making headlines by turning things around. After facing some backlash from Gamergaters, Anne Wheaton took to Twitter to get Gamergate participants to inadvertently raise money for Feminist Frequency. And if there’s one thing Gamergaters hate, it’s those crazy feminists. For every hatful comment Anne received she pledged to donate $1 to the organization. Despite knowing that their harassment would result in a donation to an organization they loathe, the negative comments came pouring in. It didn’t take long before she had to cap her donations at $1,000. She even began to branch out and donated to other groups including ACLU and RAINN. Word spread about what she was doing and others joined in and matched her donations. Gamergate is still a thing, and despite Anne’s efforts it really hasn’t changed the culture around the movement. But hey, at least something good has come out of the movement!”
And, Shut Up Yo regular Franco Danger has written an article taking on the meme-makers of the internet!
“I specifically get annoyed at video memes that are made by people who don't know the proper joke structure of a video meme. I know what you're thinking "Theres a structure?!" yes. The internet's version of the one liner comes from the same pocket of thought as the now-almost-painful-to-use "thats what she said" joke.”

Our good friend Mackenzie is back with a new article dealing with the complicated situation for girls in gaming...
"It’s been a while since I’ve put pen to paper… er fingers to keys. Being left-handed pen to paper usually results in a lot of smudging. Regardless, I've been itching to write for quite some time, but I keep coming up with excuses. For one thing there’s my six hour daily work commute, on top of a ten hour work day and getting a “restful” four - five hours of sleep a night. And while all of that is true and is as exhausting as it sounds, there's another reason that I've been unable to get out a review of a comic, commentary about a movie, or report on the latest video game announcement. No, it’s not because I’ve been spending my free time earning three stars in every level of Mario Kart 8. It’s actually this thought that's been lingering in the back of my mind. This kind of nagging voice that I hear every time I feel motivated to express my thoughts. The idea that I know isn’t true, but inevitably give into and think to myself, “Yeah, you’re probably right, I just shouldn’t.” That voice that convinces me that my opinion, whatever it may be, is wrong."

We've got a Review for what just may be the greatest ALIEN game ever! Does it live up to the hype? Find out below!
"Allow me to start by saying that Alien: Isolation is the game I have been dreaming of since I was nine years old. (Yes, that’s when I first saw Alien & Aliens) The people over at Creative Assembly have done a fantastic job crafting an experience that looks and feels like the original film. For decades, the trend has always been to follow the action heavy sequel Aliens. This is not in and of itself a horrible idea, but has certainly cheapened the creature we have come to know and love. By stripping back the use of machine guns and hundreds of Aliens, they have managed to make the xenomorph scary again. This game has not only managed to break the mold, but obliterate it."

Hey everyone, it's review time once again! Today I've got my review of the third and final issue of the Dawn of the Dead comic!
"This is it! I’ve reached the last issue of IDW’s Dawn of the Dead comic adaptation. Thus far, I have found myself underwhelmed by this short series. With the action heavy finale looming, I honestly found myself almost dreading this issue. Will my expectations of massive cuts ring true? Or will I be proven wrong and find myself treated to one hell of a conclusion? Let’s find out!"

It's review time everybody! Fresh off the digital presses, I've got my review for the second issue of the Dawn of the Dead!
"Alright everyone, time to check out issue two of IDW’s Dawn of the Dead comic. This time around I was really hoping that they wouldn’t skimp on moments from the film. Picking up where we left off, our heros are just entering the mall, looking to take a breather. Many familiar zombies such as the nurse and the monk can be spotted, along with plenty of new faces. So, the burning question is, does it fare better than issue one?"

So, here’s a pretty cool concept, and a great way to use technology to your advantage. A Barcelona Comedy Club, in an effort to fight dwindling ticket sales, began using facial recognition software to charge people every time they laughed at their comedy club. According to the reports, admission to the club is free, and there is a camera pointed at your face while you watch the show. Every time you laugh, you are charged 0.30 Euros, which maxes out at 24 Euros. From all sources, it seems like it’s working, as admission and sales both saw a legitimate boost. From what’s being reported so far, there are other similar clubs that are thinking of switching over to this Pay-Per-Laugh system. This is pretty cool stuff, people! A company actually wants to make sure that you get what you pay for? That sounds good to me. If I like what I’m getting, I’d be more than happy to pay for what I’m getting. At the same time, I’m certainly not paying $30 for what I feel is a $7 steak. I’m excited to see how far this runs.
What do you think? Is this the future?

It's October and you know what that means, time for some Horror! I've got my review for the first issue of the 'Dawn of the Dead' comic book!
"Let’s take a trip back to 2004, (insert squiggly lines and bright flash here). Zombies were just starting to come back to the public eye. Dawn of the Dead, which is still widely considered the best zombie film of all time, was being remade. The original film being re-released as a four disc box set, and included in that set was the first issue of a comic book based on the movie. With a cover featuring the famous machete zombie, how could this possibly be a bad thing? Well let’s sink our teeth into it and find out! Oh, and as always, I warn you now, good people of the internet, there will be tons of spoilers!"

So, remember the last time we brought you news about Ghostbusters 3? And then that time Bill Murray said that he would be into seeing an all-female cast? Those were fun times, right? Sure they were! Now guess what? It wasn’t just hearsay! That’s Right! GHOSTBUSTERS 3 CONFIRMED! With a real director, writer, and everything! And that all-female cast thing? Yeah, that’s happening, too. Paul Feig, who directed Bridesmaids, is teaming up with Katie Dippold to write and direct the film. While the movie isn’t in production yet, there are names being thorwn around as to who may be getting the Ghostbusters torch passed on to them. Some of those names include Melissa McCarthy, (Bridesmaids, Identity Theif) Emma Stone, (Easy A, Gangster Squad) and Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live, Bridesmaids).
So…is anyone still excited for this?

Talk about a sequel that nobody saw coming. The boys at Broken Lizard are bringing us back to that stretch of Highway in Vermont for Super Troopers 2. While the details are a little fuzzy, the word is that filming will begin in 2015. The ‘staches will be back in action with the comedy group behind the first one. As someone who has fond memories of this movie, I found it shocking that something like funding has been an issue. Steve Lemme of Broken Lizard stated that they have just about got all of the funding they need, but that there may be a Kickstarter campaign to fund the last little bit of the minimum $27 million estimated to make the film. So get your mustaches ready because as was stated, this next film picks up where the last one left off. Which to be honest, isn’t really much of anywhere, If I recall correctly.
Will you be seeing this film? Will you be contributing to it’s funding? Will you be chugging syrup in celebration?

The review for Big Trouble Issue number four is up now, for you, the people!
"Not gonna lie, I was a bit worried at the start of issue number four. Worried, because I had read that this would be the last installment of a really fun story. Instead, I’m very happy to report, that information was incorrect. I now believe it may actually be six. Given where the story ends in this issue, I can not wait to see how good ol’ Jack Burton continues or concludes his quest to save Wang and Chinatown."

Let’s go to the red one!
According to NASA, we’re heading for Mars. Yup. Mars. That’s the little red one which is, at it’s closest point to the Earth, 54.6. Million Kilometers away (or 33,926,866 miles). Driving at 70mph, you could make it there in about 55 years, if you didn’t sleep. It’d also be dark, quiet, lonely, and you can’t exactly get out to change drivers. Plus, the tolls are a bitch. According to NASA officials, a budget has been decided on to get humans on Mars by the 2030’s, barring any setbacks. The $7 billion system is scheduled for its first test launch in November of 2018.

As reported, Wesley Snipes will be coming back for a fourth Blade movie. To the tune of $3 million dollars, plus a cut of the profits, Wesley Snipes will return as the badass Daywalker. Just for reference, IMDB.com gives Blade a 7.1 out of 10. Blade II sits, amazingly, at a 6.7 out of 10. Blade Trinity comes in with a whopping 5.9 out of 10. If my math is correct, the fourth installment should sit at a comfortable 4.3 out of 10. However, there may be some life to this next film. Since it has been 10 years since the last time Snipes donned the Black Leather Jacket, the production company that made the first three films no longer owns the rights. So the rights are now back in the proven capable hands of Marvel.

During the steam summer sale this year, I got a chance to pick up some really fantastic games for even more fantastic prices, one of them being the most recent and available installment of the “Mortal Kombat” franchise, “Mortal Kombat 9.” I was so excited to play it when I bought it, but my lack of advanced knowledge in computers left me hanging with a game that refused to boot up. Six-year-old me was dying on the inside to play this game.
Here is where the magic happens: Steam updated their user interface about a week ago (IT’S GORGEOUS) and BAM!...the game works. And it works smoothly, too! The cut scene sound in story mode is a little…”blippy,”...but no matter! The game rocks. Mind you, this happened two or three days ago...and I am already at 17 hours on this game. I might have a problem...Moving forward, there are a few things to be said about MK9. One: it’s a very back-to-basics game. The fighting spectrum is back to 2-D format (left and right only). And two: the fighting style mimics the first games that grabbed our attention in the 90’s. My third and final observation is that a lot of the level designs are nods to levels from the first few MK releases, but with modern flare (and gore, how could I forget the gore?)
As many gamers are aware, NetherRealm Studios released a very soft (as soft as it could be for MK standards) teaser of what Mortal Kombat X MIGHT look like (Here is the teaser!) When I first saw this...I’m not even going to lie, I was totally erect (Lol, was I?). A classic battle between fire and ice, Scorpion and Sub Zero...depicted in the most brutal way, though, I could do without the Wiz Khalifa tune. This game looks incredible! Since the release of that teaser, new footage, gameplay, and content have been shared, discussed, and most importantly, demo’d at E3. Check out the video for yourself: Here is the E3 Demo! It appears that they are sticking with the same basic game build that they started with, as well as a more refined engine that they used to develop MK9. X-ray moves are here to stay, I think. I love those little cinematics. Nothing gets me more excited than watching my character shatter the opponents knee caps with a well placed side kick. Dat slow-mo...dat bass drop. They are also introducing some BRAND NEW CHARACTERS into the game, one of them being Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. Her fatality (finishing move, for those not in the know) is amazing, definitely check it out here!
All-in-all, the game looks to be very promising, brutal, and gory. That is the foundation of all things that are “Mortal Kombat.” What do you, the people, think of the next installment in the franchise? As always, happy viewing and SOUND OFF in the comments section below!

There have been tons of internet fads, but has this latest one reached a new low? Or is this all just another waste of time? Don't fret, Chuck is here to help you sort it all out!
"I hate the word 'tolerance.' Your body tolerates a certain amount of alcohol. You tolerate the heat if you are working outside on a summer day. A parent tolerates their screaming child, as they throw a tantrum in public. You don’t tolerate someone because of their cultural background...you don’t tolerate someone because of the color of their skin. YOU ACCEPT IT. The world is vast...far too big for everyone to be EXACTLY the same. So why am I musing about this? Why am I reminding you, good people, the importance of this issue, and that acceptance is the key to coexistence? I saw a video recently that was the most concerning thing I have seen in a long time. There is a war going on in Ukraine, there is a war going on in Gaza, and air strikes have been ordered and will be 'delivered' to Iraq...and a single video put all of that horrible news to shame."

The San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone while the Boston Comic-Con wrapped things up this weekend. Yet, I can't help but wonder... That's it?
Each year I count down the days to The Con, eagerly awaiting to read the headlines, see the cosplay photos, receive an outpour of texts and tweets from my nerdy friends, and tune into Live internet shows that bring news straight from the floor to me. This year however, I feel like unless you were actually there, you didn’t hear too much about what went down. It certainly lacked the usual major studio surprises and shocking comic plot twists, but there were some things worth nerdgasming over. From District 13 all the way to another Galaxy there was just enough to wet our nerdbud pallets (that is an actual thing). Here are our top 5 favorite announcements to come out of this year’s Comic-Con.
5. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Listen… I know most of us are not getting our hopes up on this one. I was on board when they first announced this film, and I was even on board when they announced Ben Affleck as Batman. It wasn’t until I heard Jesse Eisenberg was casted as Lex Luthor that my faith in the film began to deteriorate. Eisenberg is great as a brooding, fast-talking, eye darting, character. But as the bad and bold Lex Luthor…? I have my doubts. I was really hoping the Batman v Superman panel would bring it at Comic-Con but again felt let down. Aside from the new take on Wonder Woman’s traditional costume, now reminiscent of Xena Warrior Princess, there wasn’t any major news announcements. It wasn’t until one brave soul captured the teaser trailer that my faith was restored…at least a little bit.
If you’re familiar with the panels at Comic-Con you know it’s a huge no-no to take your phone out during the presentation of trailers. Security trolls the aisles to make sure no footage is leaked that the studio doesn’t want out there yet. But here we can see our first glimpse at the film. (http://movies.cosmicbooknews.com/content/watch-batman-vs-superman-comic-con-trailer-1). The coolest part of this footage is Batman’s suit looks very similar to Frank Miller’s comic version in The Dark Knight Returns. Does this mean we can we expect to see Batman as the 55 year old crime fighter? The movie is still two years away from hitting the theaters (the date recently was moved up) so it’s too soon to really know what to make of the film…Maybe next year’s Comic-Con can deliver what we’re all waiting for.
4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
Jennifer Lawrence is back as Katniss Everdeen to take on the Capitol in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. The trailer was released (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InN36T7VmFE) and shows the late Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch convincing District 13’s President played by Julianne Moore, that Katniss is the symbol for the rebellion. Based on the trailer, director Francis Lawrence captures the look and feel of the final book in the Hunger Games trilogy. Katniss was reluctant to become the symbol and it’s written all over her face as she tries to convince not only herself, but the injured soldiers that she is ready to lead them and fight by their side. From the teasers we know Peeta and Johanna are by President Snow’s side…so it will be interesting to see where the director split the book in half. Will we see Peeta reunited with Katniss in the first installment of the Mockingjay?
3. Air
Robert Kirkman, the brains behind The Walking Dead, finally debuted his trailer for Air. The sci-fi thriller stars Norman Reedus from AMC’s The Walking Dead alongside two-time Oscar nominated actor Djimon Hounsou. The two play custodial workers in an underground facility that houses a cryogenically frozen society. In typical Kirkman fashion, the setting is in a post apocalyptic world; Earth’s atmosphere is destroyed and Hounsou and Reedus are the only hope of restoring humanity; however their struggle with sanity puts risk to ever restoring life on Earth.
Check out the chilling trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb2fuFUwbRg
2. The Walking Dead
Speaking of Kirkman and Reedus, the trailer for The Walking Dead Season 5 was released and we pick up right where we left off…trapped in a train car with a really…REALLY pissed off Rick Grimes. If you thought last season brought it, this season looks like it is going to be even bigger and better. From the trailer it appears Rick makes a deal with the devil, the leader of Terminus, in order to save his life and the lives of the members of his group. Their mission: Work together to get Eugene to Washington, D.C. to cure whatever is causing the zombie apocalypse and give the world back to the living. For anyone who has questioned Rick’s ability to lead in the past I do believe he will prove you wrong in this upcoming season. Check out the trailer here and make sure you watch until the end…Remember Beth? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4GAs9TJVjM
1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
First of all, if you haven’t seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy do yourself a favor and see it immediately. I recommend the IMAX 3D experience, but go with whatever your heart tells you.
We can usually count on Marvel to make some sort of mind-blowing announcement at Comic-Con. This year however they played their hand differently. There was no big announcement like who will play Dr. Strange or if Hulk is getting his own movie but they did reveal that there will be a sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy. Even before seeing the film we knew this had to be the case. Marvel has so many films in the pipeline, why stop now, especially with a film like Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel didn’t reveal much but we do know James Gunn will also direct the sequel, set to premiere on July 28, 2017. At the end of the first film we know Nebula is somewhere on the loose, Drax still yearns to seek revenge against Thanos, Yondu knows who Starlord’s father is, and what is up with The Collector and his need for the Infinity Stones? There is also a rumor that the exploded cocoon seen at the end in The Collectors destroyed facility actually contained Adam Warlock…which leaves fans to believe he may make an appearance in the second film. Inevitably I think this will play out but Marvel has yet to confirm any of this.
So, what was your favorite piece news or teaser trailer to come out? Are you hoping to see any big surprises later this year at the New York Comic-Con? Leave your thoughts below in the comment section!

At this very moment, I am unsure of what to do with myself. Last night, while arriving at a friends house, I was told Robin Williams had died of an apparent suicide. My reaction was simply to scream, "WHAT?!" at the top of my lungs and demand proof. We all then immediately started watching Hook to try and forget.
I am simply heart broken. There has been so many other celebrity deaths that haven't affected me anywhere near this level. This was Genie, Mrs. Doubtfire, Peter Pan, Patch Adams, Jack, Mork and countless other wonderful characters. Robin Williams was a man who could make you laugh one minute and cry the next in his films. There was always something so genuine about him and I wish I had the pleasure of meeting him.
Like so many others, I grew up on his films and TV appearances, but it wasn't until I got a little older that I started to really appreciate him as a comedian. Robin Williams was such an amazing talent and the most fitting tribute I can think of is to include his stand up special from 1978 at the Roxy. I first taped this off of TV in the late 90's and quickly showed it to every one of my friends.
I don't think there is anyone that doesn't feel the weight of this loss, and to be honest, I don't know what else to say. So take a moment to remember one of the funniest men in the business and a true talent.
Rest In Peace Robin Williams.

When Galaxy Quest first came out, I didn't hate the film, but I wasn't crazy about it either. After a bunch of viewngs, thanks to the likes of HBO and Encore playing it non stop for almost two years, I began to realize there was something I was missing. Then it suddenly hit me. There was just something so genuine about the characters and there situation. Of course the movie is over the top and absurd, but it's so incredibly funny. Moments with Tim Allen trying to explain anything to The Thermians are just fantastic. We find ourselves wanting them to become the hero's they once preteneded to be.
Today I read that there still might be some potential for a sequel to 1999 film. Despite the fact that it's been fifteen years since the original, I almost feel like a follow up would work better now. With the cast and crew behind the Galaxy Quest still expressing a ton of love for the idea, this could turn out to be a really fun project. Considering the first one is a rare film that gets better with age, I would love to think the magic could be recaptured.
Check out the full story, including quotes from the cast and crew, over at JoBlo!
So what do you think internet?
Is it time to head back to the stars or should the crew remain grounded?

We here at Shut Up Yo Studios had a blast with EVIL DEAD 2013, especially me! Horror movies have always been a big part of my life and usually reboots of any kind tarnish what has come before. EVIL DEAD (Listen to our Review HERE!) was one of those rare exceptions that was a wild ride from start to finish. So, the news that the sequel has been scrapped really blows. There has already been talk of an Army of Darkness 2, and now Sam Raimi is talking about an Evil Dead TV series starring none other than Bruce Campbell. With so many rumors at this point, who knows what to beleve...
Now depending on what network the show ends up on, this could be a really great idea. A network like HBO, Showtime or something with an unrated format would allow Raimi and his team to produce a show that wouldn't be a let down in comparison to the films. Perhaps the show will lead into Army of Darkness 2? Perhps that will lead into EVIL DEAD II? It's not too far-fetched, considering the idea was originally to have Mia team up with Ash to fight the undead.
At this point it's only speculation, BUT, that would be pretty awesome. All I do know is, I would love to get back into this universe sooner rather than later.

With “Sharknado 2: The Second One” in all of our wakes (no pun intended, even though that was killer), many people who have viewed the film have been indoctrinated into the magical world of B-movies! An artform that emerged from decades past, with its roots deeply embedded in the horror genre, B-movies have made a serious comeback in the past few years in a BIG way. Hopefully, many of you B-movie buffs out there will appreciate what I am about to share.
“Kung Fury” is a film concept that has been circulating on the web for about a year (if I recall correctly) and in that time, it has gotten the attention of many communities, Reddit being one of the more affluent groups to take notice of its beautifully awful concept. With a few posts on Vimeo, Youtube, and Reddit, this movie makes “Snakes on a Plane” look like “The Godfather.” It appears to be so viciously bad that it actually looks...really AWESOME!
So here is the premise: Hot-headed, kung fu master cop quits the force and decides to play by his own rules. What better adversary to go after than Hitler, himself? Cop consults hack friend who tries to “hack” him into the past, but hacks him too far back to a land of dinosaurs, viking babes, and lightning gods! Now that I have your attention about this movie, you can find out more about this glorious project at this dormant kickstarter site.
It appears that the kickstarter has long been inactive, but it’s still a cool site to visit. It shows how badly people wanted this movie to be made. There certainly was a lot of money donated to the cause, which is fantastic for an independent, publicly funded film project. As Always, happy viewing and SOUND OFF in the comments section below!

The concept of the comic book super hero continues to cross the media division lines into film with each passing day. With known box office giants like Iron Man, The Avengers, (which took forever to build up with separate hero films and post credits scenes featuring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury) Batman, and X-Men, the film list appears to be impressive, but is still very fledgling. Sure, spin-offs are easy. The X-Men (probably the largest of it’s kind) film franchise is close to, if not over ten films strong at this point, especially with the “Origins” films, which act as a solid addition to bolster the franchise.
In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the audience is introduced to Deadpool, the lovably annoying “merc with the mouth.” Perfectly portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, who has proved to audiences that he can play a real irresistible asshole in films (National Lampoon’s Van Wilder and Waiting) the character of Deadpool was chaotic and vibrant. It was interesting how writers bent his true origin to fit into the blockbuster film...only to “kill him off” towards the end when Wolverine decapitates Deadpool in a silly looking battle that features a “Weapon X’d” Deadpool who can shoot...lasers out of his eyes? What? As far as we know, Deadpool has hyper healing, agility, dexterity, and major affinities for all of the weapons that he wields, guns and blades alike. NOT lasers eyes...but whatever.
Last week, test footage of a supposed Deadpool film was “leaked” (I’m sure it was strategically released) and comic book fans everywhere went apeshit. Even more recently, photos of Reynolds in a full CGI suit were leaked to show that they actually used his movement and mannerisms in the rendered footage. The word on the street is that FOX is behind the leak, which is true, considering that re-uploads of the footage are blocked quite quickly under copyright protection of...YOU GUESSED IT! FOX. Now, this is exciting news, because if any anti-hero deserves a feature film, it’s Deadpool...but there may be a problem. FOX will do its very best to release this film as a PG-13 feature, because all Marvel universe movies that have been released so far have received this rating. Deadpool fans want FOX to do these two things for the Deadpool movie to stay true to the character’s nature. 1) The film needs to be VIOLENT. And 2) Deadpool’s dialogue needs to remain untouched, profane, and goofy as shit.
Check out the video for yourself. Our apologies if the link is dead by the time you check it out. It should be an easy find on Google, as are most things. What do you think the Deadpool movie should be like? As always, happy viewing and SOUND OFF in the comments section below.

I still remember sitting in the library in high school reading online about the proposed, Mad Max 4. At that time Mel Gibson was still attached, and it seemd like it was actually going to happen. I had already been into the films for a couple of years, so needless to say I was pretty pumped to see a new film on the big screen. Then, without warning, the film feel apart and it seemed like nothing would ever come of it.
Now, ten years after I first read about it, the trailer has been realeased for, Mad Max: Fury Road. Not gonna lie, it looks pretty flipplin sick! After twenty nine years, George Miller hasn't forgotten the look and feel of the wasteland. There are elements of the original trilogy all throughout the trailer and the new additions look crazy good! I also need to point out that Tom Hardy looks pretty awesome as Max. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the recasting, but he seems to fit the bill thus far. Although I am left wondering how this new film fits in to the original trilogy. I have read it takes place between one and two, but that seems like a slippery slope. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
With just under a year to go before release, I can honestly say I'm really excited for this one. If there is any chance we can get a movie anywhere near as good as, Mad Max 2, it's well worth the wait!

So I was on the internet a few weeks ago and I came across this video that left me laughing quite hard, yet I couldn’t figure out what was so damn funny. That’s pretty much how every video by the Australia based comedy trio, “Aunty Donna,” affects nearly all of it’s viewer fan base. With an emergence so fresh that there isn’t even a wikipedia page posted up for them yet, this group is busting guts all over the net. Here at Shut Up Yo Studios, the love for all things comedic in nature should be very apparent to you, the people. What can you expect when you check out Aunty Donna? For one thing, the humor is very silly, outlandish, and absurd. It reminded me a lot of the sketch comedy work produced by Monty Python, but with a little bit more of a modern twist to it. It’s hard to explain, now that I am trying to put my exact thoughts down in writing. Here is what I gather from their material. Imagine if “Monty Python” and “Tim and Eric” got together, smoked weed, and wrote sketch comedy. It’s kinda like that! Don’t just take my word for it, though. Check these guys out for yourself! You can view their material on Youtube, or even visit their website HERE. As always, happy viewing and SOUND OFF in the comments below!

"It’s not too late to get on board this summer’s controversial anti-blockbuster! Snowpiercer, directed by Joon-ho Bong (The Host, Mother), shows no signs of slowing down despite its initial limited North American release. The sci-fi film, based off the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige (written by Jacques Lob and art by Jean-Marc Rochette), is not your typical feel good summer flick, but it sticks with you for days and leaves you wanting more."

The second issue of the Big Trouble in Little China comic is out, and my only question is, does the ride get better or worse? Find out below!
"Holy crap! Where do I start? After reading just the first page alone of issue number two, produced by the fantastic people at BOOM! Studios, I was already bent over with laughter. Not only do the laughs keep coming, but as does the action! The real treat of the universe setup here is the blend of both."

Hold onto your butts, folks. Weird Al is BACK with an all new album that dropped on July 15th. It’s called ‘Mandatory Fun’ and the cover art is quite genius. Hell, the premise is genius, as he is releasing one new music video EVERY day for 8 days starting on thee first day of release (Tuesday, July 15th, 2014) I can’t help but feel like this is an even greater, meta-level parody of Beyonce’s unannounced album that dropped overnight earlier this year. As far as videos go, the public has been graced with “Tacky” (“Happy” parody) and “Word Crimes” (“Blurred Lines” parody). Shit is indeed getting very real for Weird Al Fans everywhere, so be sure to pick up a copy of the record! Let’s hope it takes us away to that special place, where the sun is always shining, and the air smells like warm root beer, and the towels are oh so FLUFFY!!! Check out all of the insane cameo appearances in the “Tacky” music video, as it features so many GREAT comedic talents of past and present. Recently, I came across a story about a comic book sequel to, Big Trouble in Little China. My immediate reaction was one of intrigue and concern. Now that the comic is out however, I could not be happier that I didn't just write it off!
"I am not sure how I can possibly ever thank the people over at BOOM Studios for resurrecting one of my favorite characters of all time: Jack Burton. John Carpenter’s cult classic from 1986, Big Trouble in Little China, has such a vivid world of black magic and zany action. It’s a western in a blender with chucks of comedy, romance, and a dozen other things mixed in. The original film follows Jack Burton and his friend Wang Chi as they attempt to rescue Chi’s fiance from the clutches of the immortal gangster, David Lo Pan."

In traversing the ever-growing void that is the internet, I have returned to bring you this fantastic 9 minute video on how a $25,000 bet gave rise to the film industry!
This video from the CineFix.com youtube channel is a 9 minute exploration of the ins-and-outs that shaped the film industry, from production, and distribution to the current state of internet-content like Netflix! I was very interested in the reference to the Supreme Court decision in the 1940's. Those crafty Hollywood folk!
Obviously, in 9 minutes, you can't cover the ENTIRETY of film history. But take a look and tell us what you think! Did they cover it all? Or did they miss something?

Many of you already know who Terry Gilliam is, but for those of you who don’t...he is a true pioneer of the last century of film and visual art. Besides his well known work with the wildly popular British comedy troupe, Monty Python (Monty Python Animation), Mr. Gilliam has also been the mastermind behind several experimental films. Known for his visually stimulating style, Gilliam has captivated audiences with works such as Twelve Monkeys, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, Brazil, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, to name just a few of his films.
His latest work has been in development for a short while, but it looks like a classic Gilliam film that will test the mental capacity of his niche audience. The Zero Theorem looks like it will be built upon a futuristic, dystopian scenario (much like Twelve Monkeys) that has been mixed with a bleak view on the exploration and comprehension of the meaning of life (like The Matrix, or Being John Malkovich). Whatever the outcome of this film is, it looks like the visual/film manifestation of a full-on, ego-death acid trip...with VIDEO GAMES!?! Check out the trailer for yourself below. Here’s hoping that Gilliam’s work is appreciated. I know I will certainly check it out! Don’t forget to SOUND OFF in the comments section below.

Mike Foy and Frank Mitchell are out in the field, testing some weaponry for their latest project. They think they are alone. They think everything is fine. But they are being stalked by something...
Find out WHAT, by watching HERE!

Probably one of the most basic weapons to craft that does the most damage is none other than the slingshot. There are many variations of this weapon. From a “Y-shaped” stick paired with a thick rubber band, to a technologically advanced instrument with a scope and stabilization weights, the slingshot is a very unique method of doing damage to shit. The scenario that we see in mixed media is the typical image of a young boy who plays with slingshots that grows up to be a master hunter, or a decorated soldier. In this case, Joerg Sprav is a German man that decided never to outgrow his love for slingshots. In the pilot episode of his channel, he states that the slingshot has been “the signature weapons of naughty boys for a very long time.” His channel is a testament to the raw brutality that can be brought forth by the weapon, but not without also highlighting the importance of safety.
With entertaining commentary, incredibly clever modifications, and a hearty laugh, The Slingshot Channel on Youtube is sure to keep you watching and revisiting to see what Joerg does next! The internet has given me a gift again, ladies and gentlemen! There is a youtube channel that is simply called “Gary the Goat.” It’s a fairly simple channel that features the sarcastic, narrative banter of an Australian man, along with his best friend, Gary. Gary just so happens to be a goat and let me just say that this animal has more personality than most of the girls that I used to talk to at parties in college. From going to bars, to pooping on cars, this channel is a MUST SEE!

Whilst scouring the internet in my endless pursuit for new and interesting content (especially of the musical variety), I came across something seriously amazing. This band here is from Finland. They are a metal band that call themselves “Hevisaurus.” I don’t think I have ever smiled wider after reading what their purpose is. This band dedicates their time to writing children’s music for a genre that has alienated children (at least the American ones) from it’s fanbases for so long. Not only is the music intelligent and driven by classical elements, it’s also very catchy and listenable. It looks like the music is also educational in content, as well, which is a beautiful thing!
Finally, and perhaps the most impressive thing about this group, is that the five members dress up in cartoon-like dinosaur suits for their performances and music video releases. Could you imagine if Barney sang screamo, or if the Teletubbies performed gangsta rap? It truly is an amazing expansion on an artform from our childhoods that hits me right in the feels. HARD.

So, now we have our first look at Superman in a movie that we wont see for two more years...
Great.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t want to see the movie, and hopefully get to see Batman kick his ass, but I can’t say I have much interest in it now. Maybe some people think that’s crazy, but I would much rather wait until the one year mark. Three hundred and sixty five days is plenty of time to create a killer ad campaign building up to the release of the film. At two years, it’s just a horrible tease and I would rather push it all away and focus on something I can watch now.
I certainly understand wanting to get a little taste to tide you over, like the first image of Batman and the Batmobile, which I have to admit look pretty good thus far. The picture itself looks good, showing an older Superman out in the rain, but seems a little uninspired. Though, It would be pretty great to have Batman and Superman fight in the rain with the picture quality that exists today, as long as it doesn’t resemble anything from the last Matrix film. It does however resemble The Dark Knight Rises ad campaign a little, rock replaced with water.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how all this plays out…. for the next two years…
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Hits Theaters on May 6th, 2016.
Also, the villains list leaked. The studio isn’t saying anything, but it does have some interesting choices. More HERE!

Can you recall a time when you would get home from school, plop down in front of the TV with your homework, and tune in for an intense episode of Dragonball Z? Well, I sure as hell can. I was completely content with watching full episodes of flamboyant, half-primate warriors scream at each other a shoot lasers out of their hands for an hour EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
After Dragonball: Evolution was released in 2009, I felt all of my respect for the franchise slowly die. Until recently, I haven’t been faithful to the franchise at all. It simply became a show that I would watch reruns of as I did dishes, simply to provide me with entertainment during such a monotonous chore.
After seeing this trailer, I am REALLY stoked. It looks like a cleaned up version of the show I once loved with some 3-D effects integrated into the action. I am hoping the film won’t rely too heavily on the visual effects to keep viewers interested, but we’ll just have to wait and see! It basically looks like Goku is going to brawl with a level 99, purple sphynx cat from space...AWESOME!

Well, it’s that special time of the year, folks. That magical time when every game that you have ever wanted comes out of the woodwork to be purchased by that salivating masses at incredibly low prices. That’s right, good people...it can only be the Steam Summer Sale that unifies the PC Master Race (and folks on PSN) for an all out, wallet-murdering event that lasts a total of 11 days (June 19th through the 30th). In all honesty, this is one of the most beautiful times of the year for me, as well as ALL gamers that use their PCs as a platform for their video game experiences. It’s a time that truly brings me back to a time when video games brought me and my siblings together, specifically my brother. Since Steam’s increase in popularity in the last few years (it wasn’t always this popular...See this GIF) It has allowed me to enjoy gaming time with him and many other friends who use Steam.
I had fallen out of gaming for a while after high school. I had never upgraded to Playstation 3 or Xbox 360...I just kinda fell out of it. I had other things that I was focusing on (music school, relationships, making damn good chili) and I think that an extended hiatus was JUST what I needed to rekindle my love for video games. Before this hiatus, I was totally into gaming. Fighting games, specifically ‘Marvel Versus Capcom 2’, racing games, hack-n-slash adventures, RPG’s (more my brother’s taste)...I loved it all! I specifically remember playing a lot of Mario games with my brother as a kid. Who can forget ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time’, a game that I loved for it’s music more than I loved it for it’s incredibly fun gameplay (Check this medley out!) Now THAT was a game that my brother and I stomped through on a regular basis. As you can tell by my reminiscent and nostalgic tone, this truly is the time of year that reminds me and countless members of the PC Master Race that video games are a dominant art form/experience of the millennial generation. Think about it...they have only been around for what...fifty years? The technology is always taking off. It’s an incredible time to be alive, actually! So, let’s do a brief overview of what has been seen/purchased so far during this year’s Steam Summer Sale. There are the typical inexpensive, indie games that you’ll see for $2.00 or less. Games like ‘Castle Crashers’ and ‘Risk of Rain’ are GREAT multiplayer games that don’t rely on graphics to provide gamers with a more nostalgic experience. I picked up ‘Risk of Rain’ for $2.00...and it’s an incredible game. I highly recommend picking it up. Essentially, you pick one of many characters, each with their own traits, attacks, and special features, and you try to survive as long as you can. You only get ONE life. It’s an awesome concept and it really is a game that demands you to get better, or die. Another game that I purchased for the low price of $6.50 was ‘Metro: Last Night’. This game is dark. Were talking like...as dark, if not more, than the Bioshock series. If you love Bioshock as much as I do, you are going to love this game! The premise: It’s a dystopian future and crazy shit goes down in the abandoned railway tunnels of a city in Eastern Europe. That’s all I know about it so far, as I get distracted by all of these other games. ‘Street Fighter IV’ was on sale for $15...I didn’t get it and am currently kicking myself. Even brand new releases like ‘Wolfenstein: The New Order’ and ‘COD: Ghosts’ drop in prices during this historically awesome sale. If you don’t see something that you like, they have new offers every day. If you missed something, previous items stay on sale for an additional 24 hours (or something like that). In fact, the new releases for the day will be unveiled in 10 minutes (from the time I am writing this article, so YAY!)To sum the Steam Summer Sale up into two words…”It’s magical.” Honestly, all the jokes about people’s wallets being sacrificed to the Great and Omnipotent Lord GabeN are all in good fun, as people know damn well that they are saving loads of money in the process of purchasing all these games. Joke videos like this one and even this gem show just how exciting and fun this time of year is. The Steam Summer Sale promotes wellness and I feel like this year, Valve is really doing the gaming public a favor by adding elements of participation and election in the process of creating the next sale batches. If you are just getting into gaming, or if you are returning from a hiatus, I highly recommend hitting up the Steam Summer Sale to boost your collection. Happy playing and GAME ON!!!

Well, that’s one way to gain international acclaim!
Seth Rogen and James Franco’s new movie, The Interview, is ruffling a few international feathers, apparently. In the film, Rogen and Franco attempt to assassinate North Korea’s supreme leader, Kim Jong Un. In response to this film being made, Rogen and Franco have been condemned by North Korea.
Needless to say, the critics in Pyongyang are giving this one “two thumbs down”.

That's right, Folks! The latest Trailer for the Nickelodeon/Platinum Dunes TMNT reboot has dropped! We got our first look at The Shredder and, good lord, is he a big one! While the film looks to be another decent re-telling of the 3 Ninjas storyline (even right down to the line "Together, you are stronger than he could ever be", the child in me is Ninja-Turtling the shit out of reason and common sense on this one. I am worried to admit that I'm excited for this. I'm scared, yet elated to see another semi-live action Turtles movie. Maybe not one starring Megan Fox, or one with as many jokes and bits of comedic relief, but dammit, it's a Turtles movie nonetheless!
Despite the attempt to show us the entire story, as well as filling in the paper-thin plot with those bass tones that accompany every Michael Bay trailer, I can't help but be reminded of the wise words of Jessica Spano:
"I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so... scared."
Directed by Johnathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans & Darkness Falls) and Starring Megan Fox (...yay), William Fichtner, Johnny Knoxville, Will Arnett, Tony Shaloub, Jeremy Howard and Noel Fisher, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released on August 8th, 2014.

Let me start by saying that I was never a huge "Apes" fan, but I do enjoy the first and second films in the orignal series. Hell even the fourth to an extent, but a few years ago, when "Rise" came out, I wasn't sure what to make of it and brushed it aside. When I finally saw the film I was surprised at how good it was and have enjoyed a few repeat viewings.
Today, the final trailer for the sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, dropped and I have to say that, although this may be a typical setup, the film looks fantastic. The effects of the motion capture are really well blended into "reality" and the cast looks great. There are even some moments that make me a bit unconfortable and create a real sense of fear.
What do you guys think?

Well, the wait is almost over!
I just read an article by Ryan Windess on SunsetFlipshow.com which has alerted me to the fact that the Breaking Bad spin-off 'Better Call Saul!' has began shooting as of June! We have had quite a few discussions about this show and it's parent show, Breaking Bad that you can listen to right here on the site. However, the general consensus here at SUY is that we are looking forward to this show with all the cautious optimism we can. With a precursor show like Breaking Bad, it's hard to keep that large looming shadow of expectation at bay. We are nevertheless excited to see what secrets Mr. Goodman kept in the safe behind those faux-columns adorning his office!
Bottom line here: Bob Odenkirk can pull off hysterical and dramatic, Jonathan Banks is always a home-run, We're getting Michael McKean, who is ripe for a tarantino-like reinvention of sorts. Lets see where this show takes us, is all this writer is suggesting! It's not going to be a Breaking Bad rehash, so let's see what it IS going to be.
What about you? Are you ready to head back to the strip mall in the AQ? Or have you left that life behind in favor of something new?

"The Wonder Years". I'm sure if you said that phrase out loud in any public place, you would have at least 3 people pop their head out to say "That show was incredible". From the common yet complex issues that the Arnold clan takes us through, to the classic (sometimes problem-causing) soundtrack, there is no shred of doubt that The Wonder Years still plays those old familiar chords that make us watch every re-run as if we were watching an old home movie.
SunsetFlipshow.com recently reported that The Wonder Years cast did, indeed, reunite to record extra content for the upcoming Wonder Years DVD Box set. Who isn't excited for that?
For the longest time, the show was suck languishing in re-run hell due to the insurmountable task of securing the rights to all the music used throughought the series, which if you can remember, included some incredible artists.

Hollywood Reporter recently ran a story confirming that the next film from Lana & Andy Wachowski, titled 'Jupiter Ascending' is being pushed from a July 18th release to a February 6th, 2015 release.
According to the website, insiders say that they want more time to spend on special effects.
The $150 Million sci-fi film will star Mila Kunis as a housekeeper who learns from an alien warrior played by Channing Tatum, who tells her that she is a space-princess.
The article is also calling this an "ambitious" film. Ambitious? A movie with a plot we have seen a thousand iterations of? Not to say that The Wachowskis are not incredible storytellers, nor does this writer think that they can't create an incredible backdrop to a wonderful story we've heard before. But ambitious? It's more ambitious to CALL this ambitious.

The second season of NBC's Hannibal just finished it's run and now, less than a week later, the details of season three have been laid out on the table.
Spoilers follow, so read at your own risk!
As some of you may already know, I'm not terribly fond of the show, but I do still watch it. Why at this point? I've been sucked into the soap opera that is Hannibal. I do love the first two books and the first two films, but the rest of the material just isn't great. I have no issue with doing something new with the material in the format of a show, but the story crafted here just isn't what it could be. (More about this in Tomorrows Brand New WTF Happened)
With all that said, I'm sure I'll end up checking out the third season considering the art direction, actors, and set design are all pretty great. The plan as of now is for the third season to mash together bits of both Hannibal & Hannibal Rising
Per TV Guide:
Fuller: The books won't necessarily be in sequential order. We'll be hitting elements of each of them except Silence of the Lambs in the next season. My hope is that not only do we have a completely different Hannibal Lecter story in Season 3, but we will meet some of those great characters like Francis Dolarhyde and Lady Murasaki and weave them into the world in a unique way.
“Season 3 is going to be a lot of fun because it’s going to be taking a lot of disparate elements from the novel Hannibal Rising and the novel Hannibal and mashing them up together as part of the thrust of the season. It’s going to be fun to bastardize two novels into one sort of Frankenstein season. I will brace everybody right now: We’re significantly changing the Hannibal origin story from Hannibal Rising.”

It's been thirteen years since the last trip to the Lost World of Jurassic Park and I'm not sure if I'm ready to head back.
Now, I've read both original novels and loved them, but the films are a different story. The first was great, the second ok, and the third, a complete waste of time. Now work has started on a new installment that hasn't been, to my knowledge, confirmed as a reboot or a sequel, but the park will be open!
As much as I love dinos, this film is reportedly going to have geneticly "spliced" dinos. Some will be "good" and others "bad". When the "bad" dino gets loose, the whole park goes all well, Jurassic Park-y.
Below you'll find the link that includes what could be the "new park" map. Have a look, check out the synopsis and leave your thoughts below!

Well, folks, in what we are deeming a grand-friggin-slam is the recent news that Neil Patrick Harris is releasing his autobiography. AND, as if that's not enough, it is being written in a "Choose Your Own Adventure" style. We all remember that classic format of reaching the end of a page and having it tell us "Turn to page 27 to fight the Dragon or turn to page 49 to hide in the dungeon". But how will this work for an autobiography? The official website (www.nphbook.com) offers the following description:

Now this one is interesting.
According to an article from Cleveland.com, The Lorain County Correctional Institution in Ohio has been showing pirated movies to the inmates who are serving time there.
Now, this may seem like a minor infraction, until your realize that a number of the inmates are serving time for pirating movies.
While one particular inmate in question, 26-year-old Richard Humphrey, was guilty of selling pirated copies of movies and is currently serving time for it, the point still remains that this is a clear-cut legal issue. This writer isn't positing that Mr. Humphrey is not guilty of what he is accused. The fact is that this institution is breaking the law, while simultaneously supposing to be a place of rehabilitation.
What do you think? Are they on the safe side? Or is this a fairly large issue?

Christopher Nolan's next film, Interstellar, just got itself a brand-new trailer which reveals the plot of what looks to be a sprawling space-epic.
Interstellar, starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain and Mackenzie Foy, will focus on mankind's realization that we aren't able to sustain life on this planet due to not being able to grow crops anymore, and that our only solution is to move outward into the furthest reaches of space.
While this plot may seem simple, it's the assertion of this writer that the less we know from a trailer, the better. Nolan's films have been notoriously deeper than the trailers have given them credit for. Plus, using the music from the Evey Reborn scene from V for Vendetta is especially effective!
What say you, the people? Does this movie look great, or does it look like pseudo-intellectual nonsense?

This guy is just plain NAILING IT TO THE WALL!!
Pope Francis delivered a homily this past Monday which touched on the importance of acceptance and inclusion in the Christian faith. He spoke of a time where it was unthinkable to accept the "unclean" pagans into their midst or their circles of Christianity.
Then, he dropped this one on the congregation:
“If, for example, tomorrow an expedition of Martians came to us here and one said ‘I want to be baptised!’, what would happen?”
He then followed-up with:
“Martians, right? Green, with long noses and big ears, like in children’s drawings.”
And then he moved on, but not before saying this to cap it off:
“When the Lord shows us the way, who are we to say, ‘No, Lord, it is not prudent! No, let's do it this way’. Who are we to close doors?”

George Takei did an interview for washingtonpost.com which was posted yesterday. While pretty much anything this magnificent man says is gospel, he had a number of comments which this writer feels were incredibly pertinent and incisive statements as to what's going on with Net neutrality, in regards to how the broadband companies are acting:
"Well, this audience was built not by them, but by our efforts, by our creativity. And once we have that audience built, they want to charge us for it? So, I think that, too, is an issue that needs to be examined and debated and in the interest of fairness, a policy has to be created to deal with the fact that access to large numbers of people was built by us, using [the broadband companies'] platform. They can't unilaterally say, 'All right, it's our platform, we're going to charge you for it.' They didn't build that audience."
Edward Snowden and how he's handled the unveiling of secrets:
"I think what Edward Snowden's done, he's started a lot of important conversations. However, he has violated certain rules that we have already. It's like (pauses) Dr. Martin Luther King. He was fighting for civil rights, because the laws we had at that time were not democratic. And so he willingly broke those laws, fully aware of the consequences, ready to go to jail for having broken that law, because it was an unjust law. Snowden's broken the law, but he runs away. I think the discussion would be more intensified, and there'd be a greater urgency about it, if he had stayed and dealt with what he had done. But you know, these are very complex issues."
And, perhaps more important than those two issues combined, the future of Star Trek as a television series, and why it should be set in the Prime universe:
"Frankly, that's the one I'm very comfortable with. And I find that more engaging, because you know, the rebooted one is essentially action-adventure and a terrific space opera. But what "Star Trek" did was, it used science fiction as a metaphor to comment on burning issues of the time. Certainly the times of the 1960s, but there are burning issues today."

Doctors from the Mayo Clinic are studying an interesting way to combat cancer. Measles!
According to washingtonpost.com, Stacy Erholtz, a 50-year-old mother from Minnesota has been living with myeloma; a very specific type of cancer that affects the bone marrow. She had to contend with tumors growing all over her body, with no real end in sight. With so few options to help her fight it, doctors from the Mayo Clinic have decided to "enter the unknown".
In a two-patient clinical trial, doctors administered an injection of 100 billion (100,000,000,000) units of the measles virus. After 5 minutes, Erholtz suffered a terrible headache. Two-hours later, she was trembling and vomiting. Thirty-six hours later...her tumors began to shrink.
Erholtz's cancer went into remission after just one injection of the virus (which was engineered for cancer therapy by Stephen Russell & his team).
While this is an incredible discovery, it is important to remember that this was a very specific case. Additionally, in this two-person clinical trial, the procedure was only successful with one patient. These sorts of studies, according to Tanios Bekaii-Saab, a researcher at Solove Research Institute in Ohio, have to be have to be confirmed in large, randomized clinical-trials before they get too excited about. It's still exciting no matter how you slice it!
According to the Star Tribune, "[Viruses] bind to tumors and use them as hosts to replicate their own genetic material; the cancer cells eventually explode and release the virus. Antiviral vaccines that have been rendered safe can produce the same effects and can also be modified to carry radioactive molecules to help destroy cancer cells without causing widespread damage to healthy cells around the tumors. The body’s immune system then attacks any remaining cancer that carries remnants of the vaccine’s genetic imprint."
Wether or not this is viable in the long-term, I'm sure no one can deny that its exciting to see scientists, doctors and researchers getting ever-closer to curing cancer.
What do you guys think? Are we tampering with forces we were never meant to understand?! (what is this, a horror movie ad from the 50's?) Are you excited for this kind of advancement?! Sound off in the comments!

V/H/S: Viral (which will be released some time this year) will focus on "tales of a deranged illusionist, a homemade machine that opens a door to a parallel world, teen skaters involved in a Mexican death ritual, and a sinister organization tracking a serial killer – all tied together in a mythology that takes the V/H/S franchise into the internet age.", according to Deadline.com.
The film's anthology segments will be directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes), Marcel Sarmiento (Dead Girl), Gregg Bishop (The Birds of Anger), Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead (Resolution) and Todd Lincoln (The Apparition).

We have known about Michael Fassbender un-bolting the Magneto helmet long enough to don the armor of the twisted soul Macbeth for a while, now.
But today, (thanks to HitFix.com) we got to see two posters for the film directed by Justin Kurzel (The Snowtown Murders, The Turning and the upcoming Assassin's Creed adaptation).
One sports the dark, worn face of the titular character played by Michael Fassbender. The other showcases Lady Macbeth, as played by Marion Cotillard.
Macbeth stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, David Thewlis, Paddy Constantine and Jack Reynor. There's no word on a release date yet, but these images are sure to tide us over until they announce it.

Huffingtonpost.com reported on May 13th, at 5:09 am, that H.R. Giger has passed away. The artist who designed the iconic xenomorph from the film series "Alien" passed away at the age of 74, due to complications following a fall.
As a child in Switzerland, his father pushed him to learn a true trade, and his mother nurtured his passion for art. This great infusion is what few have said to be responsible for his ideas of infusing biological components with industrial elements.
Even though he has tried to distance himself from his designs on screen due to his frustration with the system of Hollywood, he always held a soft spot for those who chose to tattoo themselves with his artwork.
"To wear something like that your whole life is the largest compliment someone can pay to you as an artist."
-Secons magazine, 1994.
Rest in Peace, Mr. H.R. Giger.
